Target JLU Grodd Set
I like the Justice League Unlimited figures a lot, but they’re really hampered by the fact I can rarely find any of the interesting ones and the multi-pack special sets are made up of 90% of figures I don’t want. This JLU Target exclusive set is a bit different, but still contains some undesirables. (Check out Toy News International for dozens of pics of the set):

This exclusive set is cool because it includes the always awesome Gorilla Grodd figure along with the Red Hood. If you’re not familiar with the Red Hood, according to at least one of the ten thousand back stories of Batman the Red Hood was the original criminal alter-ego of the man who was to become the Joker. That’s why if you take that bucket off his head you’ll see the Joker underneath.
What really sucks is that 50% of this pack is comprised of figures that are being released ad infinitum. Why does Mattel do this? You’d think the figures would be appealing enough to kids simply based on the presence of a giant guerrilla alone. Won’t a lot of kids already own like five or six of these Supermen and Batmen already?

I plan to give away Supermen and Batmen this year for Halloween instead of candy. I keep having to buy them in three-packs, and there’s no point in keeping them for custom fodder, since Mattel seems determined to create animated versions of every DC character anywhere ever…

This is a pretty sweet set. I love the Red Mask Joker figure. Harkens back to the Killing Joke comic.
