The Fight of The Century: Bratz vs. Barbie… ITS ON

If you are alive, then you’re no doubt aware of the massive success that the Bratz doll line it has had. The Bratz line has been such a success that it has nearly crushed Barbie as the number one choice of dolls for young girls after many years of iron fisted dominance. In a legal maneuver by Mattel that can only stem from jealousy in the success of the Bratz line, Mattel is looking to get ownership of the line from MGA.
Their argument is that the creator of the line was still an employee for Mattel and he stole the idea. MGA is counter suing, saying that Mattel copied the Bratz line. I don’t know how hard it will be for Mattel to prove their lawsuit, but it’s undeniable that Mattel copied the Bratz line when Barbie started to really lose steam. I mean, just look at that alien headed slutty Barbie:

I really don’t know Mattel’s side of the story, but come on. Case closed.

You know what’s great? You can use the Bratz clothes on 6-inch figures and most of the time they fit nicely.

which is more than you can say for actual 6″-scale clothes…

i think bratz are 1,0000 times better then BARBIE dolls. bratz have way more of a variety then barbies and bratz are cheaper then barbies by far. i am very upset that the jury has decided that barbie win the big trial. i don’t think that it is bratz dolls falts that barbie dolls are so expensive. of course the public is going to vote for barbie because they have been around longer, but I will have you know bratz fans such as I all around the world will NOT , I repeat NOT be very satisfied with this verdict. I am a young person with a big mind that knows a WHOLE bunch of boys and girls that choose bratz over barbie. And just to add bratz have their own cartoon and movies when have you everseen barbie with that. i am so upset i can’t even tell you in this letter.

Would Mattel have paid Bryant $30 million and rising for his work? Mattel seeks to recruit the talented and pay them a meagre salary for their ideas, which can make fortunes. Managers are merely the custodians of their established products and brands, it’s the creators who make the real difference. Look what happened to Disney in the hands of Eisner. The moment Katzenberg left in frustration, the animation studios, the hallmark of the Disney empire, went into freefall and closed. Is Mattel going the same way? Certainly without innovation the only way is down and the figures show that is the way Mattel is relentlessly heading. Innovation and imagination is what counts as JK Rowling proves in spades and she is reaping her just rewards. Pay the piper what he’s worth and you get to keep your children. Colin O’Donoghue Ex-designer of Barbie and Disney clocks and watches and the author of The Dragon Code, a fairy story based on stolen invention and inspired by events at Disney but it could just have easily been by these events at Mattel. http://www.dragoncode.co.uk/
