The New and Improved Lego Death Star

by Paul

Here’s a cool Lego set on the horizon that I hadn’t even known existed until cruising the Brother’s Brick Lego themed blog the other day. Apparently, images of a new Lego Death Star was discovered by intrepid Lego fans (i.e. Bothans) browsing the image cache of Lego.com. This set is different than the previous Death Star set because this one is an awesome cross section of the feared planet killer:

This set is reminiscent (at least for me) of the kind of Star Wars playset Kenner used to make back in the day. And as cool as it is, what’s really fantastic is that the set comes with a whopping 21 mini-figures to populate the space battlestation!

I love this assortment; it’s almost every figure you’d need to recreate much of the bulk of Star Wars IV: A New Hope. (Fun Fact: Star Wars IV: A New Hope is the first film to have the words “escape pod” uttered seventy five times.)

Not only does this set come with a metric shit ton of mini-figs, but it also comes with a mini TIE Advanced. For those of you not hip with the Expanded Universe, that’s Darth Vader’s TIE fighter.

This is one hell of a Lego set and because of the nature of the find there’s no word on availability or price, but you can expect this sucker to be pretty damned expensive. The amount of mini-figs alone is enought to drive the old dollar amout way up.

Thanks to: Brothers Brick!

The price of this set… 200 dollars, actually is 120 but by the time of the set’s release a gallon of gas will cost 20 bucks.

Wow, that is pretty damn awesome!!

Hi Paul! There’s no way the price is $200… I read that it was going to be 399.00 which sounds more reasonable when you consider the high piece count and the excess of mini-figs. Plus look at the other premiere Lego SW sets. The price always leans high. But, isn’t it a beaut’? …Even the box is gorgeous.
