This Month in ToyFare: Issue 137

by Paul

Holy crap, it’s been a long time since I did one of these. I guess a case of laziness combined with the fact I’m not sure how many people read these posts caused there to be a large skippage. However, I picked up a copy of the latest ToyFare a few weeks ago and thought I’d give one of these a shot again. Please let me know what you think, the future of This Month in ToyFare depends on it!

Page 7 - Quick Hits: Waa waaa waaa?! I think I made it into Quick Hits, even though I don’t remember writing that little blob of text. Is there another Paul? Well damn him! I’m taking the credit. Look Ma! I’m in ToyFare again!

Page 10 - wish/list: Jebus, that guy does look like the kid from the first Pee- wee Herman movie.

Page 12 - Hotplate: Holy crap, I like what ToyFare has done with the Hotplate. It’s much cooler seeing who picked what. It’s a really cool personal touch.

Pages 14 through 45 - Incoming! -

Page 14: I like Gears of War a lot, more than the average person should. I still have to get me a Cole figure.

Page 16: This Robin looks terrible! The rest of the DC Infinite Heroes aren’t so bad and look a little more improved than the first wave a figures. That Robin though? He’s an embarrassment.

Page 15: What’s up with Ryu’s face? He’s got the crazy eyes real bad.

Page 30: Didn’t the whole “cyber” thing go away in the late ’90s?

Page 40 - Bootlegger’s Ball: Wow, I really like that background on that card too. It’s just like the covers of the crappy ’50s sci-fi books I pick up now and then.

Pages 46 and 47 - Scan and Deliver: The most disappointing thing about this contest was that it was only for attendees of the ‘08 San Diego Comic Con. Yes, I’m incredibly jealous.

Pages 48 through 51 - The Dr. Manhattan Project: Woah, these pages are like looking into Alan Moore’s crazy bearded nightmare.

Pages 58 and 59 - The Odd Squad: It’s cool seeing the strange selections of Super Hero Squad figures. I thought I was keeping up to date on them, I guess not. I don’t remember seeing over half of these in stores.

Pages 60 through 68 - Naughty and Nice: Hot chick alert!

Page 68: Fun trivia. My friend Shawn has purchased so much Gama-Go merch that the company could afford a rocket powered motorcycle.

Pages 74 through 79 - Twisted Toyfare Theatre: I love the Dr. Strange stuff in this installment, especially when he takes twenty bucks and a case of Pabst. He’s my kind of guy. The ending is also pure genius.

Pages 80 and 81 - Top 10 Hottest Figures: Holy crap on a cracker. I have one of the top ten and I saw 3 of them in the store. Kind of wish I’d bought the three so my little story here would be a little more impressive. As far as the market watch goes… 25 bucks for the Talon two pack? I found tons of them out here.

Pages 82 through 85: As always, I love the Big Shots. Please keep these going!

I read this and I shall destroy you… or hell I volunteer to write these reviews for you. I’d do it for my blog but then I’d only be disappointing me.

The Dr. Manhattan Project: Woah, these pages are like looking into Alan Moore’s crazy bearded nightmare.

Don’t you mean “Alan Moore’s crazy nightmare beard“? ;)
