Toy Ads That Time Forgot Tuesday 11-15-2006
Yeah, I realize that it’s not Tuesday. I won’t say anything if you don’t. Anyway, for this installment of Toy Ads That Time Forgot we look towards the original Battlestar Galactica and a pimp ass Cylon.

This is what we in the toy blog business (the whole two of us out there) like to call a money shot. Just look at that Golden Cylon, how can you not want one? He’s here to let everyone know that not all golden robots are gay, or at least some of them are very butch like himself.
To make this ad even more tantalizing for the late seventies kid there’s a gigantic beacon promising that this golden robot of evil is 100% free. 100% free, that is, if you send in proofs of purchase for four other figures.
This ad makes me wish I had a time machine so I could go back to late 70s and purchase all the needed figures to get this guy. Yeah, I suppose I could just go on eBay and get this guy, but I wouldn’t have an excuse to wear ultra short shorts and a Charlie’s Angels ringer t-shirt.

short shorts, lol.
I only had the silver variant, actually I still have it. I also had Cmdr Adama, a muffet, and some purplish-pink thing. I also hd a mini Colonial Viper (too sweet) and a cylon raider. I was the BSG pimp back in the day.

Awesome Keith. Hate to make you feel old, but I was too young for the original Battlestar Galactica. I really came of age around the time of Empire Strikes Back and more so with Return of the Jedi. I admire the collection you had, though.

I also had a Colonial Viper, a silver Cylon and a Muffet! I would have probably managed to get this guy too, if I’d seen him! Oh, I also had a lunch box, which I’ve still got.

Jeez Gayle. About every comment you make my jaw drop with surprise. I guess you’re one failing as a kid was you didn’t read enough comic books to take advantage of this offer! hehe

Oh, awesome. Just…awesome.
Sad to say I’m a bit young to look at that with nostalgia, but it’s still cool to see.

Well, I am too. I missed the original Battlestar by a few years. I caught them in reruns though.
