Toy Hunt: Spending Spree!

This weekend was a bit of a departure for me, because I spent a lot of money. Usually I’m a tight ass, but this weekend was the one where I had to buy the wedding bands for my upcoming wedding… now my future wife and I will be wearing the big fancy HD TV and new computer I want on our fingers. Huzzah!
In addition to that there is a comic book store in my area that was having a big sale. Now this place isn’t just a comic book store, it’s also a toy store of sorts. I don’t go there very often because I have the feeling that the store gets its figures through scalping… I mean how else did he get all the rare Star Wars figures selling at a high price without most of the common ones in stock? Well, because of the sale I finally broke down and bought a concept Boba Fett. I figured that it was better than buying one on eBay since I didn’t have to pay shipping at all. So yeah, I have one of those now.

After that business was taken care of we went about the rest of our errands. In order to placate me, my fiancee suggested we stop at the KB Toys at the mall. It was here that I was able to pick up a Legendary Comic Heroes Madman figure for about seven bucks, that’s three less than retail and I certainly feel better than when I thought I completely missed him at retail. (FYI: Mike Allred rules)

I also ran across some Johnny Lightning Star Trek toys that I’ve never seen before. Being a fan of the Titanium Star Wars line and starships in general, I needed the original series Enterprise. In fact, I picked it up even though there wasn’t marked with a price. Once I checked out and found out the thing was $1.98, I had to pick up the USS Majestic which looks like the ship from The Wrath of Khan.

I feel bad that I didn’t know this series existed, because I missed out on the future Enterprise D (it’s the kick ass one from the final episode of Next Generation).
While these ships are awesome with spectacular attention to detail, they aren’t diecast metal. They are entirely plastic and have no real heft to them. This isn’t a bad thing per-se, but it’s a little bit of a let down.
All and all with the purchase of some cool ass toys and lots of comics, not to mention the purchase of the rings, this was a pretty great weekend. Now it’s Ramen for the rest of my life!

Nice haul, Paul!
I stopped at a KB over the weekend and saw LCBH for six bucks a pop, but I already had them all so I passed.
I also found a NECA Masked Predator at Spencer’s. I looked long and hard at that thing, but for $15, I just couldn’t buy a figure with that level of pre-posing. I know I’ll have it on display for a month, then decide it’s boring and toss it in the toybox. I’ll stick with my superposeable MM6 Predator for now.

Yeah, I took a little of my tax money and went on a little of a spree myself. And I got some good deals on everything. I picked up a couple Sideshow Star Wars figures and Futurama Wave 2. Now it is back to drooling over everything I can’t afford.
Congrats on getting married. Especially to someone that will go to KB with you.

Um, sorry Paul, but you actually bought a Defiant, not an original series Enterprise. I think the old-looking Defiant is from a couple Mirror Universe episodes of Star Trek Enterprise.

Thanks to everyone for the marriage congrats. @xequae, I couldn’t be with someone that didn’t support my obsession!
@Shawn, I realized that after I wrote the post but was too god damn lazy to change it. It’ll due as a suitable Enterprise though.

Congratulations on both the impending-marriage and the fact your future owner placates you with toy shopping.
Also, I bet her ring gets the NFL package.
