Transformers Watch 11-06-06

As soon as I saw this link for a new G1 Soundwave, I pooped my pants.
Maybe it wasn’t a litteral surprised bowel movement, but it certainly was figurative. A G1 reissue Soundwave is something I’ve been waiting years for because I wasn’t going to pay to import one from Japan. Regardless, purchasing a Soundwave isn’t a want, it is a need as Soundwave was my uncontested favorite transformer.
Even I realize that it seems a little silly that my favorite transforming robot is one that turns into a cassette player and not something cool like a tank or a spaceship. Let me distract you from that for a moment and focus on my two main points of why he’s coolest transformers ever: His kick ass voice and his ability to shoot smaller robots out of his chest to do his evil bidding.
Like I said, I’ve been waiting for a long time for an old school Soundwave to come out. He was one figure that I really wanted as a child, but never got. Scratch that, I did have one for an agonizingly brief moment. Please bear with me as I travel back in time to share a painful memory, or just do us both a favor and skip down to the next paragraph. In first grade a neighbor friend of mine got a double of Soundwave somehow. He brought the original to school and he gave it to me. Granted, it wasn’t in the best condition, but I finally had the transformer I wanted even if it was a little roughed up. I put it in my desk and when I left that night, I forgot to bring it home with me. The next day I got sick and ended up staying home. Sure enough, when I excitedly opened my desk when I finally got back to school there was no Soundwave. Someone had stolen it! Imagine the trauma and heartache I felt. It wasn’t until a couple of years later that I realized that my so called “friend” probably had taken it back, but with no hard evidence it can never be proven.
Now this Toys R Us figure should do the trick and replace that long lost Soundwave. Rock on! Take that Jerry Henson, you ass.
Anyone else out there looking forward to this guy?
Edit: Holy crapballs, I just found this link to a gallery of pics of the boxed Soundwave. This packaging is fantastic!

He wasn’t my favorite, but he was awesome. I loved his voice. Oddly enough for a transformer who specializes in audio, he was easily the one that was most difficult to understand.

lol that might have been part of his thing. He also spoke unlike the other Transformers too with his more robotic choice of words. My roomie told me that he talks pretty normal in the comic books, so maybe its just a cartoon thing.
