Wizard Exclusive: Mattel’s DC Plans
My good friends (Hey, at least I can pretend) at Wizard Universe.com got an exclusive interview with Mattel about their plans for their brand spanking new ability to make figures based on characters from the entire expanse of the DC Universe… well, almost the whole line, but more on that in a minute.
Some of the most important points brought up in the interview is that Four Horsemen will continue to sculpt a portion of the figures and they are looking forward to doing a Shazam! figure (or the real Captain Marvel if you will). They are also planning on doing a Marvel Legends-like Build-a-Figure, which is cool news for DC fans.
The only figures that DC can’t make look like they come from the Charlton Comics group, which DC bought quite a few years ago. According to Justin “Willy Wampa” Aclin, senior editor of ToyFare magazine:
Mattel has heretofore been unable to do the Charlton characters in the JLU line - namely the Question and Blue Beetle.
I suppose I could live without the Charlton heroes if that’s all that its limited to. On my great big list of super hero needs, Charlton is pretty far down on that list.
There’s also a mystery figure that’s blacked out on the Wizard site. I’ll let you know who it is by my INTERNET PSYCHIC POWERS: It’s Mister Miracle.

will you be picking up any of these figs from mattel paul? Pretty happy at the news but hope they keep to their promise to ‘do something’ bout the case ratios.

I have a few figures in mind that I’d like to pick up for sure. Captain Marvel is way up there on my list, and if they make a Huntress I’ll have to get one for the lady.
.
Yeah, I’m pretty sick of not finding the Supergirl I’d like so they have to get away from having totally kid-centric case ratios like the JLU figures.

It’s all about Red Tornado. With spinny legs.

lol Snark. I was never a huge Tornado fan, but I do appreciate how he constantly died in the comics.
